Indonesia’s just energy transition requires the involvement of diverse stakeholders to build a shared vision, reduce dependence on coal, and ensure an equitable distribution of costs and benefits for the economy, environment, communities, and workers. Achieving this necessitates strengthened multi-level governance, improved communication among government units, and support for economic diversification, land remediation, and social protections for affected groups. Additionally, raising awareness and enhancing technical capacity among policymakers in areas such as finance, labor, skills, land planning, and economic diversification are critical. Reforms in the electricity market are also essential to promote the adoption of renewable energy.
