Issued in December 2024, IESR’s annual report highlights Indonesia’s limited progress in renewable energy adoption despite its decarbonization commitments, hindered by a continued reliance on coal. However, the nation’s abundant solar, geothermal, and bioenergy resources, coupled with declining renewable energy costs, present a significant opportunity for transformation. To accelerate the energy transition, Indonesia must address critical challenges, including strengthening policy frameworks, mobilizing financing, driving innovation, ensuring a just transition, and fostering international collaboration. The IETO 2025 report offers vital guidance for policymakers, businesses, and civil society to navigate toward a sustainable and low-carbon future.
